Jacsons' Enterprises (Jose Antonio Celis and Sons), a sole proprietorship, which later became known as Jacsons' Metalcraft Industries, Inc. was founded in 1967 by Jose Antonio Celis, a Filipino businessman who believed institutions across the Visayas deserved steel furniture built to the standards of the country's best public offices.
Jacsons' started as a distributor for office equipment such as typewriters, adding machines, cash registers, checkwriters, and the like. It also sold steel filing cabinets, file safes, and other steel office furnitures bought from suppliers in Manila. However, innovations in technology mainly brought about by computers, office equipment of this nature soon became obsolete. Also, with the cost of shipping steel filing cabinets and other steel office furnitures from Manila compounded by problems brought about by the damage to the items due to mishandling by shipping companies, Jacsons' decided to manufacture it's own steel furniture and veered away from selling office equipment.
Starting with a modest workshop in Iloilo City, Jose Antonio assembled a team of welders and finishers who shared a single discipline: every drawer should still open, every keylock should still turn, every cabinet should still stand — decades after it left the plant.
Today, that same discipline guides the second generation of the Celis family. The plant has grown, the equipment has modernized, the catalog has expanded — but the principle is unchanged. We manufacture steel furniture as if every piece carries our family name. Because it does.
Six decades, one standard.
Founded in Iloilo City
Jose Antonio Celis establishes Jacsons' Enterprises, a sole proprietorship, beginning a family enterprise selling office equipment and steel furniture for the Visayan market. Jacsons' soon entered into a short-lived partnership with another entrepreneur from 1969 to 1971 before reverting to Jacsons' Enterprises soon after the partnership was dissolved.
Pioneer of Western Visayas
Due to the declining market demand for office equipment brought about by product obsolescence and the challenges of buying office steel furniture stocks from Manila, Jose Antonio Celis decided to transition his business from being an office equipment and office steel furniture distributor to manufacturer. Jacsons becomes one of the first manufacturers of steel furniture in the region — serving government offices, schools, banks, hospitals and other institutions including residences. The year 1979 saw the establishment of a small workshop located at the family residence in Commission Civil St., Jaro, Iloilo City. The fledgeling business encountered tough times as expected in any new business ventures but it carried on.
Incorporation & a permanent home
In January 20, 1983, Jacsons' Enterprises was incorporated and became known as Jacsons' Metalcraft Industries, Inc. The year 1987 saw the establishment of a new workshop located in Baltazar Industrial Subdivision, Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City where it is still located until this day. Distribution grows beyond Iloilo. JMII steel furniture earns a reputation for reliability in institutions that demand long-life equipment.
